This plant is such big medicine all over the world, and specifically to our local area. We have a beautiful variety, Artemesia douglasiana. The medicine is the same as the vulgaris, the more widespread variety. This oil is meant for topical use and the benefits are many. It is a plant aligned with the moon as the Latin name suggests.
Artemesia is after the Greek moon goddess, Artemis, who is considered a patron of women. The medicine is aligned with the full spectrum of women's health through moon cycles and menopause, but not limited to it.
This is a wonderful oil to apply topically to the pelvic area if the moon time is tight and crampy. It is super antispasmodic, antiinflammatory, and increases circulation, a lot. It is fabulous for joint pain and constricted muscles. This oil is clearing of stagnant unwanted energy. That said, it is protective and is also known to elicit lucid dreaming. The oil will bring this on if you apply it before rest. For real! I've experienced it myself, but not everyone does. The smell is heavenly earthy sage-y to boot.
One of my favorite ways to use this oil is as a salt scrub. Just put your salt in a little bowl and add a couple teaspoons of oil, mix, and scrub the skin with it, scrub till you're pink, move the energy, then rinse off the salt, keep the oil and massage it into skin. Refreshed!
